Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS)

The CSRS™ enables physical and occupational therapists to become preeminent stroke clinicians through a rigorous set of courses culminating in a written examination and internationally-recognized credential.

Seminar is sold out

Overview

The program consists of a four-tiered, stroke educational program. The certification begins with 9-hours of foundational content, delivered via an online learning management system. This content includes foundational concepts in stroke and neurorehabilitation (e.g., motor learning; neuroanatomy), and lays the groundwork for live labs and didactics. Required “knowledge checks” are delivered after each online learning module.

After completing all of the online learning content, attendees take part in live didactics and labs which build on this core knowledge, occurring in a Friday-Saturday-Sunday format on a single weekend.

The four-course series culminates in an online test administered via a secure website. Successful test completion with a score of 80% or above grants the CSRS™ certification, which are placed behind one’s professional credentials.

University of Mississippi Medical Center - School of Health Related Professions
787 Lakeland Drive
Jackson, Mississippi 39216
This course will be held at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – School of Health Related Professions located at 787 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS 39216.  The lecture will be held in room 1B on the first floor of the building on Friday and 1A on the first floor of the building on Saturday / Sunday and the labs will be held in the PT Lab A on the ground floor of the building.  Please enter  the building through the door at the top of the stairs (as shown on the faciliy photo).  While it is a badge access door;  there is a buzzer connected to security so that they can open the door remotely.  Facility staff will also be located at the door each morning and during breaks to ensure everyone is able to enter the building.
Please reference the following information as well as the map provided via email for parking on each day of the course.
  • Friday, 11/21 — On the top right-hand corner of the picture is a building labeled “878.” The physical address for this building is 878 Lakeland Drive, LB Building, Jackson, MS 39216. This building has a sign on its side that reads “University Physicians”. The lot attached to this building (indicated by the red square on the map) will serve as the designated parking location for the first day of the course only. SHRP is only a short walk away, and I will ensure that signs are posted to direct everyone to the correct path to reach the building on that day.
  • Saturday, 11/22, & Sunday, 11/23 — There are several locations that will be available for parking on these days:
    • Free Parking – Lots 3, 8, 11, and 18 (as marked on the map) are free of charge on Saturday and Sunday.  Please be aware that, on Saturday, there is a Jackson State University Football Game happening at the Veterans’ Memorial Stadium (directly across from the west side of campus), and parking in these locations on campus may be somewhat congested with employees parking on campus as well.
  • Paid Parking – Lot 21 (as marked on the map; also known as Lot D) has a fee associated with it; however, it is gate-controlled and is situated closest to SHRP of all the available parking areas. The fee is $1 per hour with a maximum of $20 per day (given that the course lasts ~8 hours each day, anyone who parks here should expect a parking fee of $8 – $10).
SHRP is indicated by the blue circle on the map. The blue arrows are intended to indicate the directions for accessing the various parking areas. Please print out the Parking Permit that was provided via email and place it on your car’s dashboard Campus security is aware that this course is being hosted at the facility. However, if any campus security personnel should question you about why you are parking on campus without an official UMC parking decal, you should be able to produce the parking permit as a  confirmation, and campus security will allow you to proceed.

The facility will provide a light breakfast and afternoon snack. Lunch is on your own. There is a cafeteria at the campus student union (directly across the street) that will be open on Friday, but will not be open over the weekend. The hospital has a cafeteria within it that will be accessible over the weekend. There is also a Subway and a Chick Fil A within the main hospital. Just up the street a bit from the facility is a Mediterranean restaurant, Aladdin. There are also quite a few options in the neighborhood adjacent to the medical center (the Fondren District). At this time there are no covid restrictions. While there is no dress code for the course, we do recommend you wear comfortable clothing (e.g. athletic wear).

We do not block hotel rooms. However, the hosting facility did provide a list of hotels that are in the area. These are listed below.
