Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS)

The CSRS™ enables physical and occupational therapists to become preeminent stroke clinicians through a rigorous set of courses culminating in a written examination and internationally-recognized credential.

Overview

The program consists of a four-tiered, stroke educational program. The certification begins with 9-hours of foundational content, delivered via an online learning management system. This content includes foundational concepts in stroke and neurorehabilitation (e.g., motor learning; neuroanatomy), and lays the groundwork for live labs and didactics. Required “knowledge checks” are delivered after each online learning module.

After completing all of the online learning content, attendees take part in live didactics and labs which build on this core knowledge, occurring in a Friday-Saturday-Sunday format on a single weekend.

The four-course series culminates in an online test administered via a secure website. Successful test completion with a score of 80% or above grants the CSRS™ certification, which are placed behind one’s professional credentials.

The course is still being held at Miami Jewish Health (5200 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, Fl 33137). However, the event will take place in the Stein Common building on the 2nd floor in conference room Sands B. You will need to enter through the main gate and park in the red zone (map will be provided in email). Please have your parking pass and identification available when approaching the gate (parking pass will be provided via email). Once on campus, enter through the May center and follow the provided map to the Stein building. Via email a map and parking pass will be provided and this should be downloaded for your reference. Security has been given a list of participant names and they will do a cross reference with your license to allow entry on the campus. From the main gate, you will be directed to the reserved parking area for the course (red zone). The facility will provide a light breakfast and a snack at the afternoon break. Lunch is on your own. There is a small vending area on campus.

While there is no dress code for the course, we do recommend you wear comfortable clothing (e.g. athletic wear). We do not make hotel recommendations for CSRS courses; however, the following hotels are near the facility: Hilton Downtown Miami and Hampton Inn & Suites located on Biscayne Blvd, the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach and the Hyatt Regency Miami.
