If you are a current CSRSTM participant, you will receive information for accessing your Day 1 Online training 3 weeks prior to your live course starting. The CSRSTM course seems to be in high demand; how can I register and secure a spot?
- First: Request to be on our email list for new course information. Approximately 10 days before registration opens for new courses, we start notifying people on the email list are notified of an upcoming registration. The notification tells them the time and date the registration will open. Send an email to admin@neurorecovery.net to get added to the email list.
- Second: We recommend being on our site a few minutes before registration opens on the seminar page for which you want to register and refresh your page so you can see as soon as the registration form opens.
- Third: The registration form requires information such as your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, OT or PT license number and credit card information. Therefore, using a device that you purchase from often and that has your personal information like name, email, mailing address, phone number and credit card information stored on it, will allow you to auto populated these fields. This seems to be the way people are able to enter their information so quickly and get a spot.
Given that registration is competitive for the CSRSTM can I prepay for a course?
No, we do not accept prepayments. In order to allow everyone the same opportunity to register, registrations are on a first come first served basis on the day of registration.
How will I know that I successfully registered for a CSRSTM course?
After filling out the registration form and payment method, if you secured a spot in the course, the website will indicate you have successfully registered. You will then receive an email confirmation and receipt. This may go into your spam/junk folder, so be sure to check it. You can also check your credit card bill to see if it is has been charged.
As registrations fill very quickly there could be a delay in your confirmation email of a few days.
Can I be on a CSRSTM waiting list in case someone cancels?
Yes, after the course has sold out, we take the first 30 names per course for a waiting list. Simply send an email to admin@neurorecovery.net and indicate which course you would like to be on the waiting list for. If we have a cancellation in the course, we offer the spot to people on our waiting list. Please note that being on the waiting list is not a guarantee you will get into the course, as it we can only offer spots if there are cancellations in that course.
How much do CSRSTM courses cost?
Registration for the CSRSTM is $900 for all four days. Although we provide you with a wealth of materials provided by 3 highly-experienced faculty, the cost per course is extremely competitive (and, in most cases, less) than other CEU courses.
Our private course costs vary, based on the number of days, location (ie, travel costs), and several other factors. If you’d like a private course, please contact us.
Where have you hosted CSRSTM courses previously? Where will you host courses in the future?
Since 2013, we’ve hosted about one CSRSTM per month. Our previous course locations have included Las Vegas, NV, Indianapolis, IN, Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, Anchorage, AK, Houston, TX, Jacksonville, FL, Ranchos Los Amigos (CA), Louisville, KY, Charleston, SC, Tampa, FL, Raleigh, NC, Charleston, SC, Tulsa, OK, Rochester, NY, Miami, FL, Buffalo, NY, Cleveland, OH, and Salem, NH (just north of Boston, MA), to name just a few.
Course locations are always listed on the website as soon as we have confirmed them. Additional sites are almost always under consideration but we will not post them on the site until they are confirmed.
We tend to alternate regions in the United States, but will occasionally repeat a particular location.
Is the CSRSTM “recognized” by professional organizations? Is it approved by professional organizations? What do I do to ensure the course counts toward my credentialing?
Professional organizations like the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association don’t “recognize” courses, other than promoting their own courses or certifications (e.g., their annual conferences; their specialty certifications). So the CSRSTM is not “recognized,” since no such recognition exists.
We do, however, have CEU approval from all US states and territories that pre-approve courses. We’re also an AOTA-approved provider.
In some states it is incumbent on the licensee to take CE courses that meet the requirements of their state rules. Attendees are encouraged to check with their state licensure boards for specific requirements. While attendees from US territories (e.g. Guam, Puerto Rico, etc.) as well as Canada are eligible to take the training and the exam, we do not provide any pre-approved CEUs for these areas.
Licensed OTs or PTs from other countries often attend the CSRSTM but we do not provide any pre-approved CEUs for other countries.
Why don’t you offer the CSRSTM for speech therapists, nurses, recreation therapists, or other allied health professionals?
Our CSRSTM instructors are PTs and OT’s. The knowledge and scope of practice between these two disciplines are similar (and in some cases overlapping) and it is usual for CEU courses to be offered to these two groups. Because of these similarities, the course covers content pertaining to theories, assessments, and treatments that mostly pertain to these two related areas. In contrast, other allied health professions’ scopes of practice are sufficiently different from these fields that a separate course series would be needed to provide an advanced certification for these professionals at adequate depth.
Are OTA’s and PTA’s permitted to complete the certification?
Yes!
Do you offer private CSRSTM courses to specific facilities?
Yes! Please use the contact us page to inquire about this possibility.
Do your instructors teach private courses also?
Yes! If you’ re interested in one of our team members coming to your facility and providing tailor-made content to your group – which could include materials from the CSRSTM – check out our customized course page here.
Do you offer the course in a distance-based format?
The CSRSTM is not offered in a distance-based format. In situations where presenting “live” is not possible (e.g., pandemic; instructor illness), we may provide portions or the entirety of a course virtually. We will only offer courses remotely when these situations arise.
Is it true that all course materials are electronic?
Yes; before the course, you will be given a log in address and password where you can obtain all of the course materials in PDF format. Use of this format offers several advantages over printed course booklets:
- The electronic format that we use allows you to download and print the course materials, if you wish. However, you can also keep the files electronically, and view course materials on a smartphone, tablet, or computer from virtually anywhere and without a bulky booklet.
- You can enlarge or shrink your view of the materials, as well as searching the documents for particular terms or concepts. These capabilities are simply not possible when traditional paper formats are used with bulky books.
- Using electronic materials also saves money that would otherwise be spent on costs of printing and shipping the books to each course site. This is how we are able to remain competitive with the costs of other courses (about $225/day), yet include 3 different, senior level speakers and a wealth of materials;
- This practice saves paper;
- Our electronic portal also lets us provide attendees with extra materials such as movies, mp3 audio files, and other materials that will enhance understanding of the course. We can upload these materials – or other materials that attendees request – during the course with a few keystrokes. These materials are available online for an additional 6 months after the course completion date.
If I take the exam, is there a separate CSRSTM certification fee?
Yes. Much like the fee that you pay for your therapy licensure and license renewal, there is a fee for obtaining the certification and for when you renew (every 2 years). This covers administration of the test through a secure test server.
How do I get listed in the Certified Stroke Rehabilitation SpecialistTM directory?
After someone passes the CSRSTM exam, an email is sent to them within 7-14 days asking them to fill out the attached form if they would like to be listed in the directory. These lists are then updated in the directory about every 2 weeks. As this email may have gone to spam, you can contact us to be listed. Send an email to admin@neurorecovery.net and indicated you would like to be added to the Specialist Directory. We will need to know the year you took the CSRS, so we can verify you are certified. Also, you will need to include: Your name with any credentials you want listed, your facilities name, your facilities mailing address, if you are an OT or PT and your email/phone number (only if you want those two items listed).
